Also called indigestion, it is one of the most common complaint across all age groups. term refers to a group of symptoms that often include bloating, discomfort, nausea, and burping.

  • Feeling of fullness irrespective of meals (bloating)

What are the causes of Indigestion (Dyspepsia)?

  • Diseases like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Thyroid disease, pancreatitis etc
  • Medicines like painkillers and aspirin, antibiotics, steroids
  • Addictions like alcohol and smoking
  • Faulty food habits like eating too much, too late, too fast or consumption of junk and oily/spicy food
  • Stress

What is the treatment of Indigestion (Dyspepsia)?

Since dyspepsia is not a disease but a symptom, treatment is usually of the underlying cause

How do I prevent Indigestion?

  • Eat small meals 
  • Eat slowly
  • Avoid citrus fruits and tomatoes.
  • Avoid caffeine containing and aerated beverages
  • Avoid stress at all costs
  • Quit tobacco in any form
  • Avoid, or at least reduce alcohol/li>
  • Avoid tight clothes
  • Don't exercise with a full stomach. The ideal time is just before a meal or at least one hour after a meal.
  • Wait at least three hours after your last meal of the day before going to bed.
  • Get enough sleep
  • Sleep with your head elevated (at least 6 inches) above your feet and use pillows to prop yourself up.
